Local MP backs CarePlus once again
Last week, Bob Neil, Member of Parliament for Bromley, re-endorsed CarePlus.
In a meeting with the charity’s Chairman, Rob Leitch, Mr Neil was pleased to hear that CarePlus is pursuing new funding initiatives whilst also launching a fortnightly stall in Bromley market. The Government Minister was keen to applaud CarePlus’ volunteers and provided a fresh endorsement, urging local residents to support the charity.
Mr Neil said:
“I am delighted to re-endorse CarePlus and place on record my ongoing support for this excellent local charity. For many years now, it has consistently delivered much-needed support to some of Bromley’s most vulnerable elderly residents. It has some of the most dedicated volunteers I have encountered during my time as an MP and they each play a vitally important role in our local area.
“In difficult economic times, this organisation deserves the support of the community to ensure that it can continue to serve those who require support, care and companionship.
“I have every confidence that CarePlus will continue to go from strength to strength, and I look forward to working closely with the charity over the months and years ahead.”
Having gained Mr Neil’s support, Mr Leitch said:
“I am delighted that CarePlus has received fresh backing from our town’s local MP. CarePlus’ dedicated volunteers work in the heart of the local community, providing a wide range of services to older members of the Borough and enabling many to stay in their own homes for longer. During these difficult financial times, the voluntary sector is facing enormous challenges and as such CarePlus needs the support of the local community more than ever.
“We are grateful to Mr Neil for his unequivocal backing, and we look forward to continuing to grow the charity and further serve older members of our community.”

Market stall pitch will help raise awareness
Bromley older people’s charity CarePlus will have a stall at Bromley Market on Friday 23 September on Bromley High Street between 10 am and 4 pm.
Along with promoting the charity’s work in the community the stall will sign up new volunteers to the service and CarePlus volunteers will show older people in need of support how to register their details to get some help.
There will also be fun balloon giveaways for younger members of the public to take away, information and a signposting service.
CarePlus Volunteer Coordinator, Jayne Gorey, said: “This is a great opportunity for us, to give local people the opportunity to find out more about the great work we do, helping older people in the London Borough of Bromley. I am delighted that we have secured a stall at Bromley Market to raise awareness in our borough about the services we offer, and hopefully find more volunteers and people who need help to stay in their own homes.”
The charity provides a free helping hand to older people (65+) in the London Borough of Bromley who value their independence but need a little help with everyday tasks, like shopping, changing a light bulb, or tidying their garden.
